About One Beat One Artist™ and the Vision

One Beat One Artist™ was built on a simple belief: artists want to be unique. I created this platform to help showcase my talent and hopefully make some meaningful connections with others who want to collaborate.

All the beats that you hear on this site were produced by me. I used to have it were you could buy and download, but tbh, most people don’t want that. Instead, they want to know you are a real person and are willing to help them put out a song. So, I simplified the site and did my best to recreate the days of sending you a beat sampler CD or playlist. This is why you must register. Exclusivity matters

The tracks you hear on my site are typically melodic, spanning hip-hop, Alt R&B, soul, pop, and trap. I do custom work too  and my best work is when I get in a mood, catch a vibe, and see where the chords and melodies take me. I have to feel it.

Anyway, this website is my platform for connecting with you. My hope is that it feels personal and exclusive and you’ll find music that inspires your next song.

I’ve been blessed to work with a variety of artists, do music production for Black theatre (2 plays) and have my music placed on networks.

I’m just going to talk to you in first-person. This is raw and uncut — won’t even use AI to refine it.

I’ve been producing since the early 2000s. Crazy to say that now. I’ve seen people come and go, but I’m still standing. What got me started making beats was writing my own songs. This is why I understand artists, because I’m one too. And as someone who has always been a self-learner, I was able to teach myself music production and audio engineering to get to where I am now.

I primarily learned by studying the production of others to understand song arrangement and techniques. I deconstructed with a musical ear a lot of R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Gospel. I also listen to other genres like Indie, Folk, and Rock. Also helps that I learned a lot of my music knowledge by playing the saxophone, which has only contributed to my ability to play be ear. I’ve also taught myself keyboard and I’m a big fan of open voicing. So when you hear my production, you’ll hear elements of many things, but most importantly you will hear my own sound. As a side note, not sure who needs to to hear this, but do you know when you’ve found your own sound? When you stop asking people what they think about your production.

My kryptonite as a producer is I keep to myself. That is the number one factor in why I’m not standing on a platform anywhere giving a speech. Not a great trait in a world made of connections but it is what it is. However, the internet is my domain so I’ve done many things because of it. A lot of beat battles, and some in-person events. This is how I met multi-platinum producers, and they taught me even more. Quite a few times I’ve received notes and comments from them (and others) about the quality of my production. So know that blowing up is not just a matter of talent, it is mainly connections.

Anyway, I’m rambling. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to produce for a variety of independent artists from LA to NYC to Houston. I have composed music for Black Theatre. I’ve got placements internationally through sync music, as well as music on TV networks like Ovation and Bravo. I still release and record my own music. I’ve done a lot honestly so when I look back, I’m thankful. I will always create music because that is what God gave me to worship Him. So when I’m in Heaven, I will do this. But for now, and since in many respects creating music is my therapy here on earth, I imagine I’ll do this until I take my last breath.

So as people come and go, I will continue grinding like I’ve been doing. I don’t know what else the Lord has in store, but I’m thankful. And if all else fails, I will just keep doing what what got me started in the first place —  reflecting and writing my own songs.

… but in the meantime, if you like what you hear, reach out and let’s make some good music together! And if you made it this far, I appreciate you. God is Good!
